Camilla Franks has shared the inspiration behind her latest exquisite collection, My Wandering Heart.
"My Wandering Heart, is inspired by a pilgrimage to Spain, Portugal and Turkey. It's designed to embrace the beauty, magic and history. Expect to be transported to the exotic surrounds of wondrous lands; from Topkapi in Istanbul, the opulent Sultan's palace where concubines trod a golden path to pleasure, to the last emir's Alhambra in Granada, Spain, which was described by Moorish poets as "a pearl set in emeralds.
Everything begins with travel. Seeing, feeling, hearing, tasting...the full sensory journey invades me. I shoot thousands of photos, collect artefacts, jewellery, local fabrics and materials, and visit artists and tribes. From there a collection is born.
For me the runway is theatre and transports the audience to another world. Watching my pieces come to life is the fruition of months of preparation. As the mother of my collection, it's like giving birth - the ultimate release."
